Despite selling 27 million albums and earning millions of dollars, Smith says he tries to lead a normal life. He and his childhood sweetheart, wife Mary, live in a two-bedroom house in West Sussex and he drives a 10-year-old Isuzu.
Actually, death is never far from his mind. In addition to singing about it for the past two decades, Smith subconsciously worries about it every time he enters a building. As a child, he had a recurring dream that he was falling headfirst through the second-floor window of a particular building.
