One step closer to voluntary human extinction, as increasing numbers of young women are choosing not to bear children. (The Age)

Above all, the childless tend to be working women with university degrees but no religious beliefs... The bureau quotes a 1994 study that cited four reasons who women made this choice:
  • Hedonism: unwillingness to invest their time or money in children.
  • Emotions: lack of emotional feelings for children.
  • Ideals: unwillingness to add to global population or other problems.
  • Practical: the desire to pursue a career without interruption.

Good on them I say; there are too many people in the world, and if something isn't done we'll all be eating Soylent Green in a few decades.
