Above all, the childless tend to be working women with university degrees but no religious beliefs... The bureau quotes a 1994 study that cited four reasons who women made this choice:
- Hedonism: unwillingness to invest their time or money in children.
- Emotions: lack of emotional feelings for children.
- Ideals: unwillingness to add to global population or other problems.
- Practical: the desire to pursue a career without interruption.
