The Null Device

An English Rastafarian is applying to have his guilty plea for marijuana possession overturned, on the grounds that possession, smoking and sale of the substance are articles of the Rastafarian faith, and thus must be tolerated under the Human Rights Act. If he succeeds, it could lead to many potheads claiming Rastafarianism as a flag of convenience, and to marijuana trials in Britain devolving into sessions of hair-splitting and debate over whether or not the defendant is a legitimate Rastafarian; a situation which would demonstrate the ultimate absurdity of victimless crimes.
