The World Meteorological Organization has
removed the name "Israel" from a list of
hurricane names, at the insistence of Jewish groups fearful that a destructive
Hurricane Israel could have unfortunate political connotations.
The name has been replaced with "Ivo", which suggests that Cocteau Twins fans
and
4AD anoraks don't have much in the way of political clout.
