The great Balkan tradition of tolerance and pluralism manifested itself
in Belgrade on the weekend, as Serbian gay and lesbian activists held the
city's first-ever gay rights march.
The activists, and attendant police, were outnumbered
and bashed by hundreds of Serbian nationalists and football fans,
who then went on to attack the offices of the political party that backed
the extradition of former strongman Slobodan Milosevic.
