Well, to see my 50th birthday, he'd have to be 22 (or 22 and 3 months, actually), which would be quite old for a cat.
My very good friend died a year ago today and shared 19 years with me. He outlasted two x-wives, 5 jobs, and three major home moves and I miss him still. A very fine feline.
In fact, on Miranda two hundred years from now, that kitten (or rather, its transfeline future self) will save your life from a paralyzing exoskeleton system crash, by making a forty-hour trek to a q-phone and sending an S.O.S.

Or longer. My Mom's cat will be 18 next month -- she says that cat has been with her longer than any husband. (She's also fond of saying she's been married 27 years, but it took her 3 husbands to get there.)
