Heeding the golden rule that one has to dehumanise an enemy to marshal public
opinion against them,
Australia's defence minister's office banned the taking of
photographs which could "humanise or personalise" asylum seekers,
lest they start to seem inconveniently unlike a formless terrorist menace
and/or reason to vote Liberal.
