The Null Device

UN-altered REPRODUCTION and DISSEMINATION

Aircraft manufacturer Boeing are working on anti-gravity propulsion technology; they are attempting to solicit the aid of a Russian scientist, Dr. Evgeny Podkletnov, who claims to have developed a device called an "impulse gravity generator". (It is not known whether Podkletnov was involved in the development of Russia's "jumbo cosmosphere" programme.)
But it is also apparent that Podkletnovs work could be engineered into a radical new weapon. The GRASP paper focuses on Podkletnovs claims that his high-power experiments, using a device called an impulse gravity generator, are capable of producing a beam of gravity-like energy that can exert an instantaneous force of 1,000g on any object enough, in principle, to vaporise it, especially if the object is moving at high speed.

The fact that "free energy" is mentioned in the story, however, seems a bit dubious. Though, if this succeeds, it may finally put the USAF on a par with the Nazi flying saucers based inside the hollow earth fnord. (via bOING bOING)

It should be noted that Podkletnovs experiments have never been repeatable by any other scientists.

I agree - it it were possible this would be a very interesting technology. However, at the moment it seems to be "out there" together with cold fusion and others....

There is a serious implication of this technology that would violate the law of conservation of energy.

According to Podkletnov's paper, his experiment is able to create a "projection area" (cylindrical column) of decreased gravitational effects. One of the observations mentioned is that fluids (air, and liquids) are equally subject to those effects. The basic problem here is that a flow is established producing a lift on a column of fluid whose mass apparently is not an input parameter to the experiment. (like a convection flow, but there is no heat) So, by choosing an arbitrarily large enclosure, the flow of such lighter fluid could be controlled to generate "free energy". Thus violating the law of conservation of energy... Another visualization would involve positioning a disc or shaft with its rotating axis positioned horizontally, right on the edge of the "column" of decreased weight, in such way that half of the disc is inside the "shielded region" and the other half is outside. This would create an

This would result in an imbalance on the disc, that would produce a torque. The torque would be permanent and would continue at any RPM level, thus, any arbitrary amount of energy could be extracted by spinning a dynamo
