Australia's General Motors subsidiary Holden may soon sell a local version of the Hummer, the obscenely large, Tom-of-Finlandesquely hypermasculine "urban assault vehicle" that has been a sensation with the rottweiler owners and gated community dwellers of America.

A fool and his money...

Given that the kind of people who buy these are the same people who love to avoid public transport and drive to work in the CBD; do you think they'll find anywhere to park the thing in an Australian city? Maybe they'll have to provide those extra-wide parking spaces like they have in the US.

Australian cities have relatively wide streets, compared to Europe anyway. Comes from having all that space to work with.

If cars get much wider, they could implement London-style one-way systems in the inner cities to accommodate the stream of Hummers.
