[19-numerology deleted]

There is a cryptic reference to the number nineteen in the Quran
(Sura 74:30) which has been made the linchpin of an attempt to
prove the Quran to be of divine authorship. See _Quran: the final
testament_, "translated from the original by Rashad Khalifa, Ph.D.",
published by Islamic Productions, 739 E 6th Street, Tucson AZ 85719,
USA (ph 602-791-3989). This is a complete translation of the Quran,
followed by over twenty appendices, several of which are devoted to
Quranic numerology. Thus, Appendix 1 claims the Quran is "a
Scripture with built-in proof of divine authorship... when we add the
numbers of all the verses where the word `God' occurs, we obtain a
total of 118123 ... [which equals] 19x6217."

Or there is the list of "19 simple facts", all in a similar vein,
presented in a fashion reminiscent of Love-22's 22 reasons 2 vote
for Love-22 (see p229 in your copy of _Kooks_). (Incidentally, according
to Khalifa, the world ends in 2280 AD: see Appendix 25.)

Some of the multiples of nineteen which Khalifa extracts are enormous;
thus on p641 he cites an 11,000-digit number, encoded in the Quran,
which is divisible by 19. The divisibility tests were performed by
computer, further proof that the Quran is a "computer-age revelation".
Appendix 2 reviews the evidence that Rashad Khalifa is God's Messenger
of the Covenant, come to establish via computer that the Quran is the
product of a superhuman intelligence, "simple to understand, impossible
to imitate".

On p703 he argues that "anyone who dies before 40 goes to Heaven", and
cites the case of Ted Bundy, executed in 1989 at the age of 42. If he
had been executed several years earlier, as many people wished, he would
have gone to Heaven, so in fact the delay was a sign of divine justice
(or something). Furthermore, there are nineteen letters in "Theodore
Robert Bundy", and the day before he was executed, he confessed to
killing nineteen women. How can you argue with evidence like that?

(Khalifa gets a brief mention in the commentary on Chapter 22 of
Martin Gardner's _The Magic Numbers of Dr Matrix_.)
