psychoceramics: A NEW LOGIC OF TIME (in 10 easy concepts!)

Following is a post to the newsgroup sci.bio.ethology, which, of course,
has nothing at all to do with ethology (the posting, that is). The real
mystery to me, though, is why the originator address appears to be that of
the moderator for the newsgroup sci.bio.evolution.

There follows 10 seemingly coherent concepts of "TIME". Some are
new. They demand the amalgamation of biology with physics. Except for
the defined vocabulary, I have hereby tried, in this case, to
communicate in "a language of biology."

Firstly, 10 definitions: 1) A scalar is any quantity (like
temperature) that has magnitude only, 2) A vector (in the sense herein)
is any quantity (like displacement to the north) that has both magnitude
and direction, 3) Direction is one of three (and only three) orthogonal,
spacial dimensions defining the biosphere (including known biology in
space), 4) Orthogonal means at right angles (at exactly 90.0 degrees),
5) A "counting scalar" is one whose magnitude increases linearly (as
does the number of rotations of the Earth about its polar axes),
6) "now time" is stunningly self-defined, the present, 7) "past time"
and "future time" are also attractively self-defined, bygone and
forecast respectively, 8) "timetags" are mental or machine markers,
nothing more, 9) "Rhythm Based Time" is "The Perception of Lateness
Relative to On Timeness" (please see reference URL to follow), and
10) A "timetag vector" is an important new concept: "the direct
association of mental or machine markers with any mass or energy
(even should such quantities exist with zero relative motion).

"THE NEW LOGIC OF TIME" contains the following 10 concepts,
with their accompanying logic (the science which: "investigates the
principles governing (hopefully) correct or reliable inference").

1) Time is a "counting scalar," not a vector and certainly not an
"arrow."
2) All time is "now time." (This may be the most difficult concept for
someone trained and specializing in just theoretical physics, it may be
the easiest for many philosophies).
3) "Past time" involves "timetags" (time labels) which may consist
of factual sensory signifiers.
4) "Future time" involves "timetags" consisting of invented sensory
signifiers.
5) Classical time t is the result of infinitesimal amounts of
"now time," which are "projected," (by human mind or machine)
as "timetags," onto an energy or mass vector and are so attached
along a principal axis of the said vector.
6) "Rhythm Based Time" (RBT) is the result of infinitesimal amounts
of "now time" which are "projected," as "timetags," onto an energy
or mass vector and are so attached only in a plane (the "RBT Plane")
which is orthogonal to the above mentioned principal axis of the said
vector.
7) Classical time t appears to move (or "flow") along the principal
axis of the energy or mass vector and with few exceptions, is
considered, by convention, to always move towards "the future."
8) RBT is bi-directional (say clockwise or counterclockwise) and
therefore may be associated with "vector spin," including rhythms,
and especially biological rhythms such as heart motion, breathing
and "body language," as well as geophysical rhythms such as the
diurnal (perhaps the most important), the lunar and the annual.
9) RBT has been found as a communication encoding mechanism
for "low stress" animals and as a result it seems an ideal candidate
for a more prolific information flow throughout "low stress"
Nature.
10) Let us define a new "TIME" by the equation: "TIME" = t + RBT

where t and RBT are "timetag vectors." The resultant vector sum
represents a "helical information package," perhaps leading to new
inquiries in the direction of recent discoveries in the fields of
molecular biology and biochemistry.

Many of these concepts, experimental procedures, and diagrams
are available on the internet and the history of the discovery of RBT
and its applications can be found in the book: "Dancing With Whales."
Research addresses are: E-mail: as given, Ceta-Research: Trinity, NF
A0C 2S0 Canada, and:

  http://www3.nf.sympatico.ca/beamish/ps104.htm & ps105, 106 & 19.

Several of these are changes to human concepts of the logic of time
but it appears suggestive to some physicists and (hopefully) biologists
that they are at least a foundation, part of the "picture puzzle," but
that there is room for added pieces of the logic in order to, one day,
finish a more comprehensive (if not complete) understanding of time.
We believe, based on our experiments and procured data, that Nature
(as represented in our work with whales and other animals) may be
able to demonstrate for us a better logic of a universal time concept.
The true logic of time would seem to some, however, to be one of the
great enigmas of modern science, and a reason may well be that we
need an amalgamation of biology with physics.

Comments and questions are appreciated. The "Lanzarote" paper
plus over 100 application abstracts are now available as a book
entitled: "A New Logic of Nature." Did anyone enjoy the unique
photograph of two breaching whales called "Synchronization," (just
above the poem with URL suffix ps50.htm)? We believe that these
humpback whales were demonstrating (as per reference ps104.htm above):
a) the extremely important concept of the above title, and b) an
essential foundation of "Rhythm Based Communication" (RBC) and its
encoding mechanism "Rhythm Based Time." (RBT).
