psychoceramics: And where is Mr. Magic Johnson?

Erving Magic Johnson, we watched him excel to incredible levels in
the 80's. We saw him take on Michael Jordan, in an epic battle
in the 90's. We all felt the tragedy and heartache when he
revealed to the world that he was infected with the HIV virus.
An outspoken advocate for education on the issues of
sexual responsibility, our television was again fraught with
public service announcements, talk show guest appearances,
videos, etc all with Magic Johnson warning us about unprotected
sex and the results.
I was saddened to think that I would see this unnatural ending
to a sports legend.
Then we (as the public) lost track of him. The PSA announcements
seemed to dwindle, no more 'kids conferences' at the local
high schools, no more videos with Ammad Rashad, or Malcom
Jamal- Warner and the MANY other stars and figureheads that
actually made kids listen to what was being said.
Why has this stopped?

Because Magic Johnson no longer is infected with the HIV virus.

The cure has indeed been found. The price tag? A cool
$100+ million dollars(this was the approximate, which could
easily be much more) and a three month program of total seclusion
in a private treatment facility.

He is indeed cured, and now we are inundated with Coors commercials
stating that you have to be 21 to consume alcohol. Thanks Magic,
21 means 21. That fallacy rides along with the Electric companies
asking you to conserve energy.
And I wonder how much American Express is paying him for his
promotional ads.
(Which is why I believe the treatment costs are more than $100
mill.)
Why is he doing these new advertisements? He needs the cash

Yes my friends, the cure to this century's plague has been found,
and once again the cure is only available to the elite and the
wealthy.
Have you heard him mention ONE WORD about his illness in the
past 2 years?
No.
Has HIV gone away?
No.
Has it gone away for Magic Johnson?
Yes.

I guess we see the true colors of this scared man who was able to
buy his way out of a situation that over 2.5 million other people
in
the United States alone can not.
I feel pretty good about all this don't you?
