While we are familiar with stories of Baghdad being plastered with posters of Saddam dressed in various costumes, one little known curiosity is that Saddam once engaged the services of the British actor Oliver Reed to portray him in a six-hour dramatised autobiographical reconstruction of his life, which was shown on Iraqi television but, mercifully for the late Mr Reed, nowhere else.
