South Africa's government goes open-source, adopting a policy of switching to open-source software on principle, saving license fees and building up local programming skills. Microsoft, understandably, are not amused.

(I wonder how long until MS and their ilk will find some way of using international "free-trade" treaties to force governments to dump open-source-only policies as "unfair subsidies" or "expropriation" or some similar menace to the smooth running of global neo-liberal capitalism.)
