Well, the GST is in force, and
the prime
minister's popularity has risen astonishingly; were there an election now,
the Tories would win. So we may have a few more terms of Howard's
Menzies-revivalist paternalism, Salvation Army-influenced legislated morality
and peculiarly antipodean Little Englandism.
