While midnight on 1/1/2001 may be the
true start of the New Millennium,
most people
couldn't care less. There will be no big parties, mostly because the media
reinforced the naïve popular view that 1/1/2000 is the start of the new
millennium, and possibly partly because the people who know/care enough to know
better aren't exactly wild party animals. A case of the majesty of democracy
in action, or ignorance becoming truth through sheer force of numbers?
Depends how you look at it...
