Blog Meetup Day?

These people say that it's Blog Meetup Day in 7 days, and have a database of cities and venues. Mind you, the fact that two of the three Melbourne venues available for voting are a Starbucks and a food court doesn't inspire much confidence. (via The Fix)

Oh no, Ong's Food Court is one of the venues. That's a dodgy, seedy place if ever there was one. At least the third choice is a respectable establishment; one can consume fine Irish ales such as Caffrey's (yum!).

Well in Adelaide I've got a choice between a dodgy franchise coffee shop, a yuppie North Adelaide "pub" who charge $5.50 for a beer, and a pub on King William street where stockbrokers hang out. Who came up with these places?

Britneybloggers or wankers, I would gather.

I think it was meetup.com, which appears to be some sort of US-based dot-com. Presumably they found them in a guide to Melbourne, and possibly put in the local Starbucks for each city as part of a promotion deal.

Well, I don't mind going into Starbucks once in a while. I can sit down and have a nice frosted cup of frappacino, and know that I have done my Evil Deed for the day.

i wonder if we'll end up underground spraypainting graffiti and the goatse.cx dude on the walls like the somethingawful.com guys did when they went to sydney last weekend.

Looks like it's at Starbucks. Bugger that then. Let the warbloggers and britneybloggers have their McCoffee(tm) by themselves.
