That PAL 4% speedup comment at the bottom of the article led me on a splendid diversion. Had never heard of that! (Though I think this would lead to better results than squishing 24 frames into 60, NTSC-style, particularly if it's pitch-corrected.)
The region-ness of DVDs is causing me to buy less DVDs though, if the studios care about things like this. There's two DVDs currently in my Amazon wishlist that I would buy right now if I could play them here.
