psychoceramics: NLP and California

In this year's presidential primary elections in California, the NLP 
captured a sizable amount of the vote (10% range, I believe) by the simple 
expedient of registering or re-registering people as independents.  When 
said independents got to the voting booth, they found that, do to 
California's closed primary system, the only people they had to vote for 
were NLP candidates and Independent Party candidates.
