Curley may not be a psychic but he never gives up
trying hard to convince the "jo-boys" on
sci.skeptic that's he's more than an unemployed
drunk who can't hold down a job...
Earl Curley is a Canadian "Psychic". He's
famous for a) his crappy web design
b) his highly inaccurate predictions
c) his many boasts about the vast
sums of money he earns (including
turning down a job for $250K because
it didn't pay well enough) d) the
threats he makes against ISPs when
netizens repost portions of his web
site material for comment on
sci.skeptic.
Earl has never sued anyone but
Earl is being sued by The Amazing Randi for
libel. Curley claimed Randi liked young boys.
Randi warned him to retract. Earl
spread his libel farther. As "proof" Earl posted
a transcript of an alleged sex chat phone call
Randi made to a male. Earl claimed this male
was a young boy. The transcript has the
male describing himself as 6' tall &
rock solid muscle. It doesn't sound
like a description of a young boy.
Randi may be gay, but so what, the
denizens of sci.skeptic asked.
Denizens accused Earl of being a
homophobe. Earl, who uses "gay"
and "fag" as a pejorative, countered
with the classic "some of my best
friends are gay". Assuming the truth
of Earl's statement, one wonders what
Earl's point is then in demonstrating
Randi is gay. Nothing wrong with
that.
Anyway, Randi sued Earl. Naturally.
The law suit didn't shut up Earl, however. He
continued talking big, about counter suits, having
secret evidence, etc, and he was ready to
face Randi in court with his crack team
of high priced lawyers. Randi got an
injunction against Earl, requiring
him to stop even mentioning Randi on
the net. Earl seems to have complied with that.
His team of high priced lawyers seem to have
failed him.
Fast word...
Earl convinced a local ISP to hire him on as general
manager. His tenure has short and he was let
go. Reports from co-workers seemed to indicated
that he was drunk much of the time, couldn't
make his car payments, hit on female staff,
had no home and slept at the office, and as
the ultimate crime, wore only the cheapest
of colognes. Earl seemed to be most upset
by the accusation that his advances on the
office females were unwanted. He claimed
something to the effect that when he "hits
the dance floor, all the women are his, baby!"
Well, after Earl was bounced on his ass,
netizens -- tired of his homophobia and his
threats -- moved in for the kill. The sport
of Earl bashing was raised to Olympic
proportions. Although Earl's net account disappeared,
he re-emerged via a public dial in at the
library and a hotmail account. Not to let
his favourite "jo-boys" have one over on him,
he claimed he was raising millions of dollars
and renting manufacturing space for some
new operation. Despite raising millions,
he was still posting from a welfare
account at a library... odd that.
This venture seemed to involve a subliminal
teaching machine, "invented" by a
75 year old Dr.Louis Romberg who denied all
knowledge of association with Earl other
than Earl designed his crappy web page.
If millions were raised, he didn't
know about it.
One Steve Sebastian decided to take Earl's
word for it and believe Earl really WAS raising millions
for a non-existent corporation. That's of course
fraud and it's the duty of all good citizens to
report suspected crimes to the police, no?
Below is an interesting capsule summery by Mr.
Sebastian of the leg work he's been doing
to root out all cases of fraud in Canada!
Mr. Sebastian, I salute you!

Dr Louis Romberg;
It is your choice whether or not you communicate with me.
However; Be advised that on Monday December 15, 1997, I will be
forwarding all communique with you, as well as the two posts made by
Earl Gordon Curley, to Detective Yates, 52 division (Major Crimes
Squad).
Mr. Earl Gordon Curley, admitted raising 5 million dollars in "venture
capital" under a non-existant corporate entity, and selling the rights
to what you claim to be your product, for 2.5 million dollars, under the
same non-existant entity. He also claimed to be the "President and CEO"
of "TLC Enterprises". In essence he made the "Asset Protection TLC 2000"
an asset of that corporation as well as 2.5 million dollars that was
raised for the "European" and "Japanese" disribution rights. Not bad for
a non existant entity.
When I informed you of the action I was going to take, you responded
with the following, "I have no clue what you are talking in your E
mail. Mr.Curley, designet my Web page." In that same letter you go on
to state, "If you belive that Mr.Curley got 5 million in venture
capital, den you are regressing in your intelligence." You then go on to
state "Please respect my age and leave me out of your fiting with
Mr.Curley." At the beginning of your response you had no idea what I
was talking about, yet 8 or so lines later you have quite a grasp of the
situation. That was sent to me on Wednesday December 10, 1997.
Then in your second email (Date: Fri, 12 Dec 1997 14:45:45 -0800) to me.
You admit to reading what was going on in sci.skeptics. You asked "Do
you have any proof of someone investing with Mr.Curley?." Allow me to
make this clear, Earls post (of Thursday December 11, 1997, 8:32, his
second post) implied he had the proper documentation; I quote a portion
of Earl Curley's second posting "when a company places a venture
capital investment in a company, anyone with any common sense knows all
documentation is thoroughly documented and verified first." Are you
claiming not to have seen that post? Your letter asked if I had any
proof of someone investing with Earl Curley. Once again the proof came
from Earl Gordon Curley himself.
I however do not see why this should be a problem for you, or Mr.
Curley; As his second post states, he has proper documentation of the
venture capital raised for the "Asset Protection TLC 2000".
What concerns me is this, in your first communique with me, you clearly
stated that I was crazy to believe such a post, referring to the post
where he raised any money at all, yet Earl claims he has the
documentation; not before, but after, I stated that I was going to the
Major Crimes Squad. Also by your own admission (in your email , dated:
Fri, 12 Dec 1997 14:45:45 -0800) , you have been following the posts in
sci.skeptic, yet you fail to see his post of early the previous morning,
where he stated he had such documentation. That was convenient.
Your attempts at deceiving me did not work, but I am sure that once the
authoritys view the "proper documentation" which Earl claims are in his
possession, this whole incident will come to a close.
I however believe that such documentation does not exist. I believe
that this was a ploy to cover his original fraudulent deeds.
I was almost convinced that I was mistaken, the reason I no longer
believe this to be the case is as follows. If Earl Gordon Curley was to
just make one statement, there is a possibility that this incident was a
fabrication, however when I stated that I would be going to the
authoritys, Earl Gordon Curley came up with a second post, in which he
stated he had proper documentation. You also claim (in your communique
with me) to have been reading the posts in sci.skeptic. Yet in not one
instance, did you even bother to post a denial to Curley's involvement
with you, in a professional manner (outside his capacity as your web
page designer). This conclusively shows that you were not ignorant to
what was transpiring in sci.skeptic, right from the beginning. It also
raises the question of why you didn't voice the fact, that you were not
involved with Earl Curley.
