It is an alignment code.  Kind of a visual "start here".

There was someone who proved that the number of the beast could be found in
anything.  I will have to see if I can dig it up.  It was pretty funny.
(Basically, use any numerological (or numerilogical) method to try and get
666.  If you don't succeed, discard the attempt and try again.)
