Hi, thought this might interest you.

		Final Call for Papers-PLEASE POST
-----------------------------------------------

Knowing of a Time, Knowing the Time
		Boston University, Boston, MA
		November 8 & 9, 1998

The third annual conference of the Center for Millennial
Studies addresses two themes: 1) traditions, around the world and at any
point in time, which anticipate the transformation of the world; and 2) the
role of dating and chronology in inciting and postponing millennial
expectations, and the specific effects an imminent date can have on the
behavior of apocalyptic believers.
This is primarily an historical investigation into origins,
including the Middle Eastern matrix (Zoroastrian, Jewish, Assyrian,
Babylonian) and the Far Eastern (Buddhist, Taoist) and Western (Sibylline,
nativist, tribal) variants. Millennial phenomena from the oldest to the more
recent (Tai'Ping, Nazism, Communism, African Zionist Churches, cargo cults,
ghost dances) will be examined. Papers discussing women and the millennium
will also be considered, and included if the number of responses warrants
it.
Papers (20-minute presentation) from all related disciplines
will be considered. Deadline for abstracts: July 1 (please contact us if you
think you would like to participate but need an extension). Send to:
		P.O. Box 239, Allston, MA 02134. Questions:
<mailto:cms@mille.org> cms@mille.org or 617 975-0299.
