Downtown Denver, Colorado has free newspaper dispensers on almost
every second street corner. They usually display "apartment finder"
catalogs, or the free (and worth the price!) local computer help rag.
Lately, the dispensers have been sporting a variety of mildly seditious
slogans. Someone's been inserting 8 1/2 by 11 sheets of paper with
xeroxed slogans on them in front of the pamphlets and catalogs displayed
in the dispenser's windows.
The slogans I've collected:
-------------
Rich
People
Destroy
Democracy
-------------
-------------
WELFARE
FOR THE RICH
Capitalism
Stock Market
Real Estate
Inheritance
ALL DESTROY
DEMOCRACRY
-------------
"RICH" is underlined in red magic marker.
-------------
CLASS
WAR
is the
NAME
of the
GAME
-------------
"WAR", "NAME" and "GAME" all sport red magic marker underlines.
-------------
NO
MORE
RICH
PEOPLE
-------------
The typography is actually pretty good for this kind of sloganeering. Most of
the signs are in a sans serif font, "NO MORE RICH PEOPLE" being the only
serifed exception. They appear to have been enlarged by some big factor, since
the outlines of the letters are a bit ragged. Possibly someone touched up the
vastly enlarged type after the reproduction process left white artifacts
in zones desired to be black. The "WELFARE FOR THE RICH" sign sports small
horizontal and vertical linear blemishes, suggesting a poor paste-up prior to
xerox enlargement.
